Prophet’s Rock Park is located on Prophet’s Rock Road in West Lafayette, IN. If you take 600 N towards Battle Ground you’ll pass Shawnee Ridge Subdivision, turn left at the stop sign, and the park will be on the left.
History – The Prophet’s Rock is located left of the parking area and marks the spot where Tenskwatawa “The Prophet” sang to his tribe to protect them from American bullets during The Battle of Tippecanoe. Learn more about the The Battle of Tippecanoe at the Tippecanoe Battlefield Park & Museum in West Lafayette.
Features – The park features steep hiking trails through the woods. Throughout the trails you’ll find different markers that explain certain events during the time of battle. There have been rumors of ghostly Indians and soldiers being seen walking through the trails. A few people claim to have captured the ghosts on video using their mobile phones, however I have not personally viewed them.
The trails aren’t very long and the actual length varies depending on what site you’re reading. People seem to agree they are somewhere between .7 and .9 miles long. I got winded about .2 miles in and am “unfit” to give the measurements.
